PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Nikolaos Siomos graduated from the Physics Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) in 2011. He received his master's degree in Environmental Physics from the Physics Department of the AUTh in 2013. He obtained his PhD in Climatology and classification of the optical and microphysical properties of aerosols using terrestrial remote sensing techniques in 2018. His research focuses on atmospheric optics and aerosol monitoring with remote sensing techniques while specializing in receiving and processing photometers. He has worked as a research associate in 14 scientific projects and his research has also been funded by 2 scholarships. He has co-authored 27 publications, 13 in peer-reviewed international journals and 15 in peer-reviewed international conference proceedings, and has received more than 130 citations for them (h-index = 6, source: Publons Web of Science). He has participated in a total of 6 experimental campaigns, of which 3 are international. In close collaboration with the official supervisors, he has supervised 2 PhD candidates in their dissertations and has co-supervised a total of 4 postgraduate and 6 undergraduate theses.

About Us

ReACT stands for “Remote sensing of Aerosols, Clouds and Trace gases”, to describe the research focus of the respective research team led by Dr. Vassilis Amiridis. ReACT consists of highly motivated scientists within the field of Atmospheric Sciences, combining a number of Post-doc researchers, Ph.D. and M.Sc. students as well as other research and technical staff, using the resources, infrastructure and experience of the Institute for Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications and Remote Sensing (IAASARS).
