Cloud Remote Sensing Workshop: Athens 15-17 July

We are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of our workshop on cloud remote sensing, held at the National Observatory of Athens on July 15-17. This event was an integral part of the PANGEA4Cal/Val project, designed to provide an enriching experience for students and researchers dedicated to atmospheric sciences, with a particular emphasis on cloud and precipitation remote sensing observations.

Workshop Highlights:

• EarthCARE Mission: Participants gained exclusive insights into the cloud and precipitation products of the Earth Clouds Aerosols and Radiation Explorer mission.
• First EarthCARE Data: Attendees became familiar with the initial data releases from the EarthCARE mission.
• Data Simulators: Participants learned to use simulators that convert data into formats compatible with models, ground-based, and satellite observations.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the esteemed experts who contributed to the workshop:

• Professor Alessandro Battaglia - Politecnico di Torino
• Professor Pavlos Kollias - Stony Brook University
• Dr. Lukas Pfitzenmaier - University of Cologne

About Us

ReACT stands for “Remote sensing of Aerosols, Clouds and Trace gases”, to describe the research focus of the respective research team led by Dr. Vassilis Amiridis. ReACT consists of highly motivated scientists within the field of Atmospheric Sciences, combining a number of Post-doc researchers, Ph.D. and M.Sc. students as well as other research and technical staff, using the resources, infrastructure and experience of the Institute for Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Applications and Remote Sensing (IAASARS).
